Fully Rely On God

      F.R.O.G.

Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
PAW PRINTS
SEPTEMBER 25, 2009

Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant?  Let him, who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze.  This is what you shall receive from my hand:  You will lie down in torment.” (Isaiah 50:10)

Christian life is a pilgrimage. The verse clearly states that a person could fear the Lord, obey his words and his servant, but may walk through darkness. People fear the Lord but may not obey Him.  For example, a son may fear his father but may not be obedient to his father if he is not present at home.  Similarly, Christians fear the Lord while in the church or reading bible but act as if he does not exist at other times.

MIDTERMS – Grades 3 – 6 will receive their midterm report today.  Please sign and return to school on Monday.  Also, please note if you have any questions or if you would like to have a teacher call you to discuss.

WLS...Come Grow With Us!

DID YOU KNOW…compelling evidence demonstrates reduced class size, particularly for younger children, has a positive effect on student achievement overall.  The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is a strong advocate for reducing class size to help raise student achievement.

Large gains in both math and reading stem from more effective teaching and more focused learning.  More teacher-student interaction allows teachers to recognize the needs of individual students and customize instruction and assignments.  Teachers know the students better and can recognize problems in special needs early.  For their part, students are more likely to be on task and less likely to talk amongst themselves.  They create fewer discipline problems and engage in more pro-social behavior, allowing teachers to devote more time to instruction and less controlling the class.  Small classrooms are more pleasant and have fewer distractions.
