Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed for this week included Joshua Gerig (4th), Buddy Douglas (8th), Jason Lindberg (5th), and Jacob Gerbers (2nd).

 

JV Volleyball The girls’ JV volleyball team is down to its last three matches. Their last home match will be next Monday, September 29th, against Suburban Bethlehem beginning at 4:15. They will also participate in one tournament at Emmaus Lutheran School on Saturday, October 4th.

 

Teachers’ Conference - Donations to help Cambodian Missionaries will continue to be collected on the gym stage up until Friday, September 24th. Mr. Hoyer and Mr. Staub will then deliver all of the items to Indianapolis when the teacher go down for their Teachers’ Conference the following Monday.

 

WLS Association Informational Meetings - Two informational meetings have been set to get information out to all interested parties about the future of WLS. These meeting will be held in the WLS gym on Sunday, October 5th, beginning at 4:00. For those unable to attend that meeting, another meeting will be held in the WLS library on Monday, October 6th, this will be part of the Back-to-School Night beginning at 7:00. Tentative plans have been made to have a WLS Association meeting on Sunday, Nov. 16th. The time and location of that very important meeting will be announced as we finalize all of those plans.

 

Mid-Quarter Grades – We will send out mid-quarter grades next Monday, September 29th. If you have any early concerns, please contact your child’s teacher and set up a conference.

 

7th and 8th Grade Class Trip – Our Washington, DC trip will begin next Tuesday, September 30th. We have 8 students and 8 adults headed for Washington for four days. Keep us all in your prayers.

 

ISTEP Tests – ISTEP testing is now finished. Results will come home in about five weeks. Remember that this is the year that students in Indiana will take similar tests in the spring for the second round of ISTEP testing. After this year, the tests will only be given in the spring.

 

Back-to-School Night -  Monday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m.  After a short meeting in the gym, students and parents are invited to visit their child’s classroom and see what they have done so far this year.  Finish the night with a rootbeer float courtesy of the PTL. 

 

Kleinhenn Fundraiser -  One more week to sell for this fundraiser. Forms need to be turned in by Monday, September 29.   Money will be collected when the merchandise is delivered.  Please be sure to turn in the top two copies of the order form no later then Monday the 29th

 

Football News –  Congratulations to Nick Sharrar and Spencer Osborn for another win Tuesday night against Southern Wells.  The boys play an away game next week at Garrett, Tuesday at 5:00.  Keep up the hard work!

 

Jr. High Volleyball -  Games for the upcoming week are: Tuesday at South Adams 5 p.m., Wednesday at Churubusco 4:25 p.m., Thursday home game vs. Southern Wells at 5 p.m.  Good luck to Morgan Gerig and the team!

 

2nd Grade Grandparent Reading -  Beginning Tuesday, October 21, at 9:45 a.m.   If you are interested in helping with this wonderful program, please call the school office at 632-5493.  Some of our 2nd graders do not have grandparents in the area, so we need your help!  Each grandparent reader is required to complete a volunteer form.  Please come into the school office to pick up a form.

 

Colts All Pro Dad -  Saturday, October 11, join head coach Tony Dungy at Lucas Oil Stadium for an unforgettable afternoon filled with relationship-building information and activities presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

 

Used Ink Cartridges and Cell phones -  Do you have a printer at home or does the company you work for have a copier or printer that just throws the cartridges away when they change them out?  Bring these into the school office or either church and WLS can get money for them.  Christ drop off is in the coatroom and Zion is by the mailboxes. This summer, we received a total of $95.16 from Advantage Cartridge Company.   Thank you for your help!

 

Zion Craft Bazaar -  Attention all crafters – Zion Lutheran Church Bull Rapids Road is having a craft bazaar on October 25th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For tables please call Carol Martin at 632-5328.    

 

Christ Lutheran Church, Bazaar – Saturday, November 1st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  What a great way to begin Christmas shopping.  We will have homemade canned goods, baked goods, cookies, and a lot of craft items available.  We also will be serving lunch, and carry-out is available.  We look forward to seeing you there. 

 

Port-A-Pit Chicken -  Little Blessings Daycare at Zion Lutheran Church is having a chicken dinner with the famous Port-A-Pit chicken Saturday, October 25th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Bring the family in or carry-outs are available. 

 

Choir -  Christ Primary and Junior choirs sing this Sunday at 8 a.m.  Please be at the church at 7:45 to practice.  Zion Primary and Junior choirs are also sing this Sunday at 9 a.m.  Please meet in the fellowship hall at 8:45 to practice. 

 

Acolytes -  Sunday, September 28, acolyte for Zion Lutheran Church – MacKenzie Sharrar.

 

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, October 1st, will be held at WLS at 8:10 a.m. Mr. Staub will lead.  Chapel offering for the months of October and November will be designated to Ablaze in God’s Word – LCMS World Mission Project.
