SEPTEMBER 18, 2008

    Our Mission is Fishin’

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed for this week included Summer Singley (Pre-K), Cody Bratten (3rd), Kelsey Swymeler (Pre-K) and Caroline Meyer (5th).

JV Volleyball The girls’ JV volleyball team played a great match on Monday beating Zion, Decatur in two games. They were then 3-1. They will play another home match next Monday against Emmaus starting at 4:15. They will then play an away match on Thursday at Concordia starting at 4:15.

Teachers’ Conference – We have mentioned that our teachers will be attending the Indiana Teachers’ Conference in Indianapolis on October 27 and 28. Indiana Lutheran Schools will be bringing donations to the conference to help Cambodian Missionaries. You may bring any of these items to the school up until the Friday before the conference. We will store the items on the gym stage and then deliver them to Indianapolis where they will start their journey to Cambodia.

WLS Informational Meetings - Many of you have heard that we are making plans for the 2009 – 2010 school year already. There will be a WLS Association meeting, tentatively planned for November 16th, to vote on a number of different options that have been presented to both church councils. All of these options are calling for big changes in WLS. It is very important that as many of the member of Zion and Christ Lutheran Churches are at this meeting so that good decision can be reached. Your vote is important; please make plans to be at this very important meeting.

Two informational meetings have been set to get information out to all of the parents, member families, and community member families. First meeting will be held on Sunday, October 5th, beginning at 4:00. For those unable to attend that meeting, another meeting will be held on Monday, October 6th, beginning at 7:00.

7th and 8th Grade Trip to Washington, DC – Our 7th and 8th grade classes will leave for Washington on Tuesday, September 30th. They are looking forward to their four day trip. Mr. Hoyer will accompany them this year along with several other parents. Keep them in your prayers during their trip.

Mid-Quarter Grades – We will send out mid-quarter grades on Monday, September 29th. The calendar said they would be handed out the following week, but we wanted to let the parent know how their children were doing a little sooner than that, so look for them on the 29th.
