PAW PRINTS
SEPTEMBER 11, 2008

    Our Mission is Fishin’

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed for this week included all of the students who did not return to WLS this year, including all of our past graduates.

School Pictures – Next Monday is Picture Day. Order sheets went home earlier this week. The students should bring them with them on Monday morning for their picture. All students will have their pictures taken, even those who are not purchasing any of the photo packages. The 2-day Preschool will have their pictures taken on Picture Retake Day which will be Thursday, October 16th.

ISTEP Testing – With picture day next Monday, September 15th, we will begin our ISTEP testing next Tuesday, September 16th. This will be for all grades, 3rd to 8th. We should be able to finish all of the tests next week. If any students are absent for any of the testing, they will need to make up the tests the following week.

JV Volleyball – Out JV girls’ volleyball team won their first match against Unity last week. This past Monday, the girls played St. Paul’s, and also won that match. The girls are doing great. Come and cheer them on at their two matches next week. They will both be home matches: Monday against Zion, Decatur and Thursday against Bethlehem. Both matches will begin at 4:15.

Teachers’ Conference – Our teachers will be attending the Indiana Teachers’ Conference in Indianapolis on October 27 and 28. Indiana Lutheran schools will be bringing donations to the conference to help Cambodian Missionaries. Please read the attached sheet listing some of the items that they are in need of. You may bring any of these items to the school up until the Friday before the conference. We will store the items on the gym stage.  Mr. Hoyer will load them in his car and take them down to Indianapolis when he attends the conference.

Kleinhenn Fundraiser –  Catalogs and order forms were sent home today with the oldest child of PS-8.  This is a great fundraiser to help raise money for each classroom.  Bring your order forms to your relatives, neighbors, and friends.  Prizes include: 1st place $50 Wal-Mart gift card and 2nd place $25 Wal-Mart gift card.  The top 5 will get to go to Pizza Hut with Mr. Hoyer.

Zion Craft Bazaar -  The ladies of Zion will again have their craft bazaar on Saturday, October 25.  Tables will be available at $25 each.  Please contact Carol Martin 632-5328 if you are interested in a table.  The time will be      9 a.m.-2 p.m. and lunch will be served.  To top the day off, Little Blessings Daycare will have a chicken dinner starting at 4 p.m.  More information will follow on both events.

Macy’s Shop for a Cause – Reminder that Saturday, September 20, will be a special day of celebrating and saving at Macy’s.  Purchase a $5.00 ticket from the WLS PTL and save 10-20% off of items.  All proceeds go to the WLS PTL.  In addition you can enter for a chance to win a $500.00 Macy’s shopping spree.  Tickets will be sold at Christ and Zion churches after the Sunday morning services.  If you have any questions contact Linda Rekeweg, Wendy Knapp, Kris Meyer, or Ann Edwards.

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, September 17, will be held at Christ Lutheran Church at 8:15 a.m. Pastor Edwards will lead.  Our Chapel offerings for August and September are designated for Dave and Beth Hoeppner and their mission work in India.
