Fully Rely On God

      F.R.O.G.

Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
PAW PRINTS
OCTOBER 23, 2009

One of my favorite Bible passages is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  What more could we ask than this – God has our future in His hands!  All we have to do is fully rely on his plans!

TEACHER’S CONFERENCE – Reminder, there will be no school on Monday & Tuesday, October 26 & 27.  Please pray for our teachers as they travel to Indianapolis for Lutheran Teacher conferences.

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE – The end of  1st Quarter is October 23.  Sign-up sheets haven been sent home for conferences.  Please return by Wednesday, October 28.  Conferences will be held in the evenings on Wed. & Thur., Nov. 4th and 5th or in the morning of Fri., Nov. 6th if need be.  Contrary to years past, we will have a full day of school on Thursday (Nov.4) with no school on Friday (Nov.5).

FLU PREVENTION – Each classroom now has anti-bacterial hand cleanser available for students to use.  We are taking extra measure to kill germs in effort to prevent a flu outbreak at WLS.  If your child is ill, especially if they run a fever, please make sure they are fever-free (without medication) for 24 hours before returning to school.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – WLS is participating in this program where we supply shoeboxes to millions of children worldwide.  The shoeboxes include gifts and personal hygiene items, as well as the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, for children from ages 2-14.  All shoeboxes must be ready for delivery by November 18! Children will bring home a packing guide & suggestions, which include SCHOOL SUPPLIES (pens, pencils, sharpeners, crayons, writing pads/paper, solar calculators, coloring books, etc), HYGIENE ITEMS (toothbrush/paste, bar soap in plastic bag, comb, washcloth/towel, etc.), OTHER (hard candy, lollipops-all candy in plastic bag, t-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watch, flashlight w/ extra batteries, etc.), PERSONAL NOTE (note and picture).  Please be sure all boxes are wrapped so that the lids can be taken off.  A large rubber band holding it together can be used.  Help us reach our 75-Box goal this year!!

WLS...Come Grow With Us!

Multi-Grade Classrooms are a Blessing!

Teachers of multi-grade classrooms have students under their care for several years.  Working and playing together over an extended period helps to foster loving relationships—a definite blessing for both students and teachers.  Because teachers maintain a long-term relationship with students, they can follow the students’ developmental, academic, social and spiritual growth.  Students learn to know their teachers so well that they know what to expect, both in behavior and in academic work.  Together, they support each other and learn to work well together.
