Lord Take My Hand

and Lead Me

Prayer Cards – Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The four students we prayed for this week included: Mercedes Neireiter (Pre-K), Michael Lindberg (3rd), Kyle Nahrwold (3rd), Tori Moore (4th), and Brendan Maska (Pre-K). The school families who we lifted up in prayer included the Paul Schwartz family, the Jay Osborn family, the Ryan Osborn family, and the Teresa Sinclair family.

Congratulations Volleyball Team - Our JV volleyball team did very well this season. It would be great to keep all these girls together and move back up to a varsity team next year or the year after. Many thanks to Heather Pyle and Tracy Gustin for coaching.

Pre-Season Boys’ Basketball Event – WLS will again hold a pre-season basketball event to kick off the new season. It will be held on Saturday, November 3rd. This year there will only be three teams competing – WLS, Emmanuel St. Michael, and St. Peter, Ft. Wayne. Each team will play two games. Our WLS boys’ team will play at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. There will be a fee of $2/adult and $1/student to see these games. Come out and help us kick off the new basketball season. Mr. Hoyer will be asking for some help during this event; if you would like to help on this day, please let him know.

Computer Safety – I (Mr. Hoyer) am taking an on online computer class. One of the things I looked at last week is the idea of computer safety. Below is a list of suggestions that I came across as part of my studies. I wanted to share this information with all of the parents.

Here are some important things to know about surfing, privacy and your personal information:

1.gif (934 bytes)

Never give out your last or family name, your home address or your phone number in chat rooms, on bulletin boards, or to online pen-pals.

2.gif (959 bytes)

Don’t tell other kids your screen name, user ID or password.

3.gif (958 bytes)

Look at a website’s Privacy Policy to see how the site uses the information you give them.

4.gif (953 bytes)

Surf the Internet with your parents. If they aren’t available, talk to them about the sites you’re visiting.

5.gif (954 bytes)

Talk about the site’s Privacy Policy with your parents so that you and your parents will know what information the site collects about you and what it does with the information.

6.gif (971 bytes)

Websites must get your parent’s permission before they collect many kinds of information from you.

7.gif (948 bytes)

If a website has information about you that you and your parents don’t want it to have, your parents can ask to see the information – and they can ask the website to delete or erase the information.

8.gif (995 bytes)

Sites are not supposed to collect more information than they need about you for the activity you want to participate in. You should be able to participate in many activities online without having to give any information about yourself.

9.gif (977 bytes)

If a site makes you uncomfortable or asks for more information than you want to share, leave the site.

Dear Parents,  Christmas in October – can you see the snow falling? This year, for our October and November chapel offerings we are adopting two families from the Allen County Christmas Bureau. We will be working on this project during the next two months to give each family a nice Christmas. There is so much to do to put together a Christmas for each family to remember. Please help us make this project successful.

For each family, we are asked to to provide a complete Christmas Day meal, staple items for the family’s pantry, one new outfit of clothing for each family member, and one new toy/gift for each infant, child, and teenager. We will be sending home information about each family later in the month regarding sizes and ages, along with specific items they are requesting for their family.

Please bring in the pantry items first. We will have boxes out in the hallways for you to drop off items.
