Our Mission is Fishin’
Prayer Cards - Each
morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also
regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed
for this week included, Miriam Edwards (3rd), Cody Osborn (3rd),
and Reagan Salzbrenner (Pre-K).
Special Chapel Offering
– On Wednesday, November 12th, our chapel offerings will go to help
the Mike Gorell family here in Woodburn. Mike, a former WLS student, passed away
on Sept. 24th, leaving behind his wife, Krista, and three children,
James, Ashley, and Abby. Please do what you can to help this family in
need.
Woodburn Food Bank –
During the month of November, we would like the students to bring in canned and
boxed food items that we can deliver to the Food Bank on November 26th.
WLS Association Meeting
– The upcoming WLS Association meeting will be held in the school gym on Sunday,
November 23rd, beginning at 2:00. This is a very important meeting.
Voting members in good standing at Zion and Christ are also able to vote at the
Association meeting. Those not members of either church, may speak at the
meeting, but they may not vote.
Thrivent Matching Funds
– For those who have policies with Thrivent, this is the time of year to make
use of Thrivent’s matching funds program if you haven’t done so yet this year.
Donations to the school are matched at 50% up to $600. These donations help both
the school and the two churches. Forms are available at the churches and in the
school office.
Basketball Home Game
Volunteers – Our JV basketball teams will be playing five home games this
season. They include:
Mon. Nov. 24 with Bethlehem
Mon. Dec. 8 with Wyneken
Mon. Jan 12 with Central
Wed. Jan. 14 with St. Peter
Immanuel (Only Boys)
Wed. Jan. 21 with Zion Ft.
Wayne
(Only Boys)
We will need volunteers to help
with the scoreboard and hall monitoring. If you would like to volunteer, please
talk to Mr. Hoyer.
Scrip News - Halloween
is over and our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving. Most stores will have you
believe Christmas is the next holiday, but we can’t forget to be thankful for
what the Lord has given us. As the weather turns colder we will find ourselves
indoors a lot more. Don’t forget to order your scrip for when you go shopping.
We have scrip for buying your food for your Thanksgiving dinner. We have
Wal-Mart/Sam’s, Kroger/Scott’s and Woodburn Fresh Food. If by chance you ARE
starting your Christmas shopping early, don’t forget to buy scrip to purchase
your gifts. Scrip certificates also make wonderful gifts themselves. Who
doesn’t like to go shopping for your own gifts and take advantage of all those
after Christmas sales!!! We carry all kinds of clothing stores, electronics,
sporting goods and restaurants. Everyone of driving age would love a gas card.
We do have one sad note: We have discovered that the .07 off per gallon was
only temporary and is no longer available at Wal-Mart, but they are still giving
.03 off per gallon. We are still selling scrip at Zion and Christ Churches on
Sundays and in the kitchen everyday that school is open from 7:30AM to 9:30AM.
Remember that this is a great fund raiser for our school.
Meijer Community Rewards
Program - Thank you to all who participate in this program. We received a
check from Meijer totaling $126.95.
Ink Cartridge Recycling -
We have a scheduled pick up set for next week. If you have any cartridges
to recycle, please bring them into the school office Monday or Tuesday.
PTL Fall Breakfast -
Next Friday, November 14, EACS does not have school but WLS does (NO bus
service), so bring your children to school and stay to eat breakfast with them
from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m. Forms for this continental breakfast were sent home last
week. Please RSVP by Monday, November 10. If you lost your form, call the
school office to get signed up.
Benefit for Mike Gorrell -
This weekend, please join family and friends of Mike Gorrell in celebrating
his life. There will be bowling and an auction held to raise money for his
family. Bowling will take place at Woodburn Lanes. The auction will be held on
Saturday, at 5:00 p.m. If you would like to make a monetary gift, it can be
sent to Fifth Third Bank – c/o The Mike Gorrell Fund - 720 East Dupont Road- Ft
Wayne, IN 46825. Please join the community in helping the Gorrell family.
