Dawson Lichty (Pre-K), and Lily Keller (8th). The school families who
we lifted up in prayer included: the Dean and Linda Gerig family, the Mike and

Thanksgiving

What my
family does for Thanksgiving is we go to my Cousin Peggy’s house for
Thanksgiving dinner. The adults make dinner and the kids set the tables. Before
we eat we give thanks to the Lord for providing us with food. After we eat our
fill we start playing card games like spoons, or poker, then after that we head
home.

Thanksgiving
By: Logan Buuck
I am very grateful
to have Thanksgiving. We have a ton of food. Some of it we could give to the
poor people in Africa and across the world. During Thanksgiving, we gather with
family and friends to celebrate the feast that the pilgrims had. Thanksgiving is
something that we should thank the Lord for because He provides us with the food
that is on our tables. I am also very thankful that the Packers have a good
record of 8-1.

This Thanksgiving I
am going to my cousin’s house in Detroit. I don’t know how long we will stay up
there. We will watch the Packers game. It will be cool because half my family
likes the Packers and half likes the Lions. This Thanksgiving will be good,
because the Packers will beat the Lions.
Thanksgiving
By Lily Keller
I like Thanksgiving
a lot. My grandma makes the best mashed potatoes in the world. They’re really
fluffy and light. I love the rolls too. This year will be great because we get a
whole week off from school. Once Thanksgiving is over, we have Christmas to look
forward to also, so that makes it all the better.
Thank You – Between our
chapel offering of a week ago and a door offering at Zion Lutheran Church, WLS
was able to donate $300 toward the family in town who lost their home to fire in
October. The family is very grateful to everyone who has helped them without
even knowing them before the accident.
Thanksgiving Break – Let
me know what you think about the week-long Thanksgiving Break this year. The
Indiana Lutheran Teachers’ Conference wanted to give it a try this way. Let me
know how it worked for your family. The conference committee may or may not
suggest a timing change for this conference for future years.
Bible Bowl – WLS will
send a team of students to St. Peter-Immanuel on Tuesday, December 4th,
for a Bible Bowl. The students know their questions will be from the book
of Luke in the Bible. They can read their assigned chapters from Luke before the
competition. After the competition, I will let you know how our students did.
Woodburn Lutheran Christmas Program – Mark
your calendars and invite the relatives – our WLS Christmas Celebration, “Joy
For The World!” is scheduled for Thursday, December 20. There will be only
ONE SESSION AT 7:00 p.m. which will be held in the school gym. The teachers
are working on all the details and will begin practicing with the students
sometime in November.

As many of you probably know, Uno’s has closed their doors. We have heard that
the owner did it because a business partner decided to get out of the business.
But don’t worry, we also have heard that it may only be temporary and that they
may open again soon. But for those of you who don’t want to wait, we were told
that Uno’s is refunding money to those of you with SCRIP cards. The number to
call is 1-866-600-8667.
Remember, the cooks are selling ON HAND SCRIP at the school every day in the
kitchen window from 7:30-9:00 a.m. (WE WILL NOT BE IN THE KITCHEN NOVEMBER
19-23).

look for some extra things you can do at home to earn money for the Christmas
Shop, so you can buy gifts for your family members). As it gets closer to
the Christmas season and you begin checking out your holiday wrapping supplies,
please keep the WLS PTL Christmas Shop in mind. They will accept any extra bags,
