Our Mission is Fishin’
Prayer Cards - Each
morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also
regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed
for this week included Madelyn Borchelt (Pre-K), Isaac Meyer (2nd),
Olivia Baumert (Pre-K), and Allison Messmann (8th).
Woodburn Food Bank –
During the month of November, we would like the students to bring in canned and
boxed food items that we can deliver to the Food Bank on November 26th.
There are two boxes in the main hallway where items may be placed.
Thrivent Matching Funds
– For those who have policies with Thrivent, this is the time of year to make
use of Thrivent’s matching funds program if you haven’t done so yet this year.
Donations to the school are matched at 50% up to $600. These donations help both
the school and the two churches. Forms are available at the churches and in the
school office.
WLS Association Meeting
– This very important WLS Association meeting will be held in the gym on Sunday,
Nov. 23rd, beginning at 2:00. All voting members of Christ Lutheran
Church and Zion Lutheran Church are also voting members of the WLS Association.
Those not members of these two churches are still invited to the meeting and may
speak on any of the motions up for vote, but may not vote on the motions.
Thanks to the PTL – We
thank the PTL for providing a great start to our day this morning. It is always
good to start the school day off with a little breakfast with our families and
friends.
Basketball to Start – Our JV Girls’ and Boys’ teams will begin their
season next Wednesday with games at Unity Lutheran School on Wednesday, Nov. 19th.
The girls will play at 4:15 and the boys will begin about 5:30. Good luck to
both teams.
Scrip News - As the
weather turns colder we will find ourselves indoors a lot more. Don’t forget to
order your scrip for when you go shopping. We have scrip for buying your food
for your Thanksgiving dinner. We have Walmart/Sam’s, Kroger/Scott’s and
Woodburn Fresh Food. If by chance you are starting your Christmas shopping
early don’t forget to buy scrip to purchase your gifts. Scrip also makes a
wonderful gift themselves. Who doesn’t like to go shopping for your own gifts
and take advantage of all those after Christmas sales!!! We carry all kinds of
clothing stores, electronics, sporting goods and restaurants. Everyone of
driving age would love a gas card. We do have one sad note: We have discovered
that the .07 off per gallon was only temporary and is no longer available at
Walmart, but they are still giving .03 off per gallon. We are still selling
scrip at Zion and Christ Churches on Sundays and in the kitchen everyday that
school is open from 7:30AM to 9:30AM. Remember that this is a great fund raiser
for our school.
Congratulations -
Concordia Lutheran and Woodlan High School cheerleaders. Both teams went to
State and competed at the 2008 State Cheerleading Competition at Chrysler High

Michelle Hoeppner, a senior at Woodlan, also competed. Congratulations on

Christmas Shop - There
will be a Christmas Shop committee meeting in the WLS cafeteria on Wednesday,
November 18th at 7 pm. As a reminder, in the WLS phone directory
