Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL PAW PRINTS
  WEEKLY NEWSLETTER MARCH 7, 2008

Lord Take My Hand

and Lead Me

Prayer Cards – Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed for this week included: Hannah Sharrar (Kind.), Mitchell Warnock (2nd), Isabel Edwards (Kind.), and Seth Yeadon (2nd).The school families who we lifted up in prayer included: the Dean and Fay Gerbers Family, the Anthony and Angela Smith Family, the Andrew and Kiley Smith Family, and the Steven and Raina Sisson Family.

Registration – We are now beginning re-registration and new registrations for next school year. Please return the forms to the school office as soon as you can to help us with planning for next year. If you have any questions or concerns please call Mr. Hoyer and make an appointment to talk to him. If anyone knows of neighbors or friends that are thinking of changing schools, please have them contact our school office as well so that we might help them to see that Woodburn Lutheran School might just be the school they are looking for.

Snow Days – I’ve said this before already this year, but we can’t do too much about all of this snow. We are also tied to decisions that the East Allen School District makes as far as cancellations. I have talked with the attendance people in the State Department of Education about a waver for some of the missed days. The form they emailed me shows that we can receive a waver for 2 days at this time. This will mean that our last day of school will be Wednesday, June 4th. If we miss additional days, we will probably only need to make up one additional day moving the last day at most to Thursday, June 5th which is also graduation day.

Spring Flower Sale – It seems like a good thing to talk about after mentioning all of the Snow Days. Our annual Flower Sale will take place again this year. Details about the sale will be coming out soon, so start planning your flower gardens now.

Wrestling – The wrestling season goes by very quickly. We have one more home meet before we finish up. If you would like to see what grade school wrestling is all about, come to that last meet next Tuesday, March 11th, beginning at 4:15 p.m. The Open Wrestling Tourney is this Sunday, March 9, 1:00 p.m., at Concordia High School, and the LSAA Wrestling Championship matches will be held on Saturday, March 15th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Wyneken Lutheran School.

National Lutheran Schools Week – This past week we had a number of special activities to celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week. Many thanks to the students and teachers who worked so hard to do a good job on our musical, “King of the Jungle”.

Creation Museum Trip – I have had some extra interest in adults joining us for our planned trip to the Creation Museum outside of Cincinnati on Thursday, May 1st. Please give Mr. Hoyer a call if you would like more information about joining us on this trip.

Journey to the Cross – Christ and Zion Lutheran Churches continue the Lenten Season with the fifth week in Lent on March 12, 7:00 p.m. The theme for March 12 is: “The Promise of Seeing God”, based on Matthew 5:8  – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God”. Light suppers will be served at both churches from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Lenten Services continue on Wednesday evenings through March 12.  There are also 11:00 a.m. services each Wednesday during Lent at Christ Lutheran Church. ALL ARE WELCOME!
