Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL PAW PRINTS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER MARCH 30, 2007

 Walking in the Light

Prayer Cards – Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students. The students we will be praying for next week will be: Josh Maroney (7th), Jesse Schlie (8th), Blake Fuller (Pre-K), and Kirk Nahrwold (Pre-K).

Teaching Position - Central Lutheran School is in need of a long term substitute for grades 6-8 science. The start date is April 9 and it will probably go until the end of the school year. Those interested may call their school office at 493-2502.

Servant Projects – Our 7th and 8th grades took their annual trip to Washington, DC in the fall this school year. Normally they take that trip in the spring. This spring while the 6th grade is off to their Outdoor Education days (May 2-4) these students are looking for some local servant projects to do. If anyone knows of families or shut-ins that could use a helping hand inside or outside, please contact Mr. Hoyer.

Spring Break – is next week, April 3-6 – NO SCHOOL!  Next week is also Holy Week, leading up to Easter Sunday on April 8. God’s blessings to all for a safe, enjoyable, blessed Spring Break and Easter! School resumes on April 9.

Journey to the Cross  Our journey will end with the celebration of Jesus rising from the dead next Sunday, April 8 – Easter Sunday! Both Christ and Zion Lutheran Churches will have Maundy Thursday (April 5) Communion services at 7:00 p.m.; Good Friday (April 6) Tenebrae services at 7:00 p.m.; and Easter Sunday (April 8) services at 6:30 and 9:00 a.m. Breakfast will be served at Christ between services, and Zion’s breakfast will be served from 7:30-10:00 a.m., and the proceeds will help send their youth to the LCMS Youth Gathering this summer. WLS grads from Zion who will be going to the youth gathering are: Josh Adams, Brooke Armbruster, Winston Armbruster, Luke Hathaway, and Rachel Hathaway.

Chapel News  In two weeks, the Chapel service (April 11), will be at Zion Lutheran Church, at approximately 8:20 a.m. with Pastor Adams leading. Students will be transported to Zion with two trips in our WLS bus, with Mr. Staub driving.   Chapel envelopes will be given to the K-8 students on Tuesday, April 10. CHAPEL OFFERINGS FOR APRIL AND MAY WILL BE SENT TO THE “CONCORDIA WELFARE AND EDUCATION” ORGANIZATION. WLS graduate Michelle Hoeppner works for this mission in China – she will be here on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18, FOR AN AFTERNOON CHAPEL SERVICE AT 1:00 P.M. – mark this date on your calendar – it’s fascinating to hear her talk about her work in China. Parents, Grandparents, Friends of WLS students – you are all welcome to join us for any or all of our Chapel Services. Just read your weekly newsletter and your WLS monthly calendars for chapel locations and times.
