Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
PAW PRINTS
MARCH 20, 2009

    Our Mission is Fishin’

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week included Billy Wilkes (6th) and Dallas Reichhart.

Parent Informational Meeting – With the recent decisions of the WLS Association, I, Mr. Hoyer, would like to meet with all of the returning families on Monday, April 13th, in the evening beginning at 7:00. By that time we will have decided on our new classroom arrangements and our staffing for next year. I would like to meet with all of those parents who may have questions or concerns about next school year.

Track Practice Begins –  Jake Gentz will be our track coach again this year. We will include grade 4 on our team this year. The first practice will be after school on Tuesday, March 24th, from 3-4:15. Everyone who is interested in participating in track will need to make sure they have paid their sports fee in the office. If this is your first or only sport of the school year, you will also still need to have sports medical form on file. Those are available in the office.  The first track meet of the season will be on Tuesday, April 14th, and will take place at the Concordia Seminary track beginning at 4:00.

Third Quarter Ends – The third quarter ended today. Report cards will be sent home next Wednesday, March 25th. If any parents would like to meet with their child’s teacher, please inform the school office and we will set up a conference time.

Preschool Registration -  We are now beginning registration for the next school year.  If anyone knows of neighbors or friends that are interested in 2 day, 3 day, or 4 day Preschool, have them stop in the school office for registration paperwork.

Choir Concert – Living Word Lutheran High School Choir from West Bend, Wisconsin, will be performing in the Woodburn Lutheran School gym on Friday, March 27 at 8:30 A.M. They are under the direction of Aaron Staub.  Everyone is invited to join us for this concert.

WLS Golf Outing at Cedar Creek Golf Club -  Everyone is getting ready for the warm weather and we’re setting the date for the annual Golf Outing!  It will take place on Sunday, July 19th, so mark the date on your calendar.  More information will follow at a later date.

Used Ink Cartridges and Cell phones -  Do you have a printer at home or does the company you work for have a copier or printer that just throws the cartridges away when they change them out?  Bring these into the school office or either church and WLS can get money for them.  Christ drop off is in the coatroom and Zion is by the mailboxes. We just received a check from Advantage Cartridge Company for $57.00.   Thank you for your help!

Thanks to everyone for making the book fair a success!  With your help we were able to get $550 worth of books for our school library.  A big thanks goes out to all who volunteered:  Casey & Mike Sharrar, Susan Gerig, Charissa Volkert, and Nikki Wilkes.

Re-Enrollment Forms – We sent re-enrollment forms home last week and we are still missing some forms.  Please read all of the information over and return the forms to the office as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please give Mr. Hoyer a call.

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, March 25, will be held at WLS at 8:15 a.m. Mr. Hoyer will lead.  Chapel offerings for the months of February and March will be designated to Hope Center in Fort Wayne.  Don’t forget to fill the baby bottles up with spare change and bring them into the school office.  Next week is the last week to turn them in.

Spring Flower Sales -  Our annual Spring Plant Sale will being next week as a fundraiser for WLS.  We will be selling scrips to purchase flowers and plants at discounted prices from the Greenhouse Effect, which is located just across the state line – a quick 10 minute drive.  We’re pleased to be able to reduce our prices this year, that’s to our friends at the Greenhouse Effect.  For any questions, call Susan Gerig or Deb Lindberg.

Acolytes -  Sunday, March 22st, acolyte for Zion Lutheran Church – Spencer Sharrar.
