Our Mission is Fishin’
Prayer Cards - Each
morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also
regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week
included Karlee Hulbert (Pre-K), Abbey Richardson (Pre-K), Kai Garrison (Pre-K),
and Hannah Dietel (Pre-K).
Fish Fry/Chicken Dinner –
The Fish Fry/Chicken Dinner is held tonight, Friday, March 13th,
in the WLS gym. If you don’t already have your tickets, they will also be
selling them at the door.
Wrestling Meets – We
finished up our home wrestling meets this past Monday. All of the final matches
are away from home. Since wrestling is such a short season, the final
Championship matches will be held on Saturday, March 21st, at Wyneken
beginning at 9:00 in the morning.
Track Practice Begins –
Another short season is our track season. Jake Gentz will be our track coach
again this year. We will include grade 4 on our team this year. The first
practice will be after school on Tuesday, March 24th. Everyone who is
interested in participating in track will need to make sure they have paid their
sports fee in the office. If this is your first or only sport of the school
year, you will also still need to have sports medical form on file. Those are
available in the office. The first track meet of the season will be on Tuesday,
April 14th, and will take place at the Concordia Seminary track
beginning at 4:00.
2nd Grade
Grandparent Reading - There will be no 2nd grade Grandparent
reading next week, Tuesday, March 17.
Re-Enrollment Forms – We
sent re-enrollment forms home this week. Please read all of that information
over and return the forms to the office by next Friday, March 20th,
if possible. If you have any questions, please give Mr. Hoyer a call.
Parent Informational Meeting
– With the recent decisions of the WLS Association, I would like to meet with
all of the returning families on Monday, April 13th, in the evening
beginning about 7:00. By that time we will have decided on our new classroom
arrangements and our staffing for next year. I would like to meet with all of
those parents who may have questions or concerns about next school year.
Third Quarter Ends –
Next Friday, March 20th, will end our third quarter. Report cards
will be sent home on Wednesday, March 25th. If any parents would like
to meet with their child’s teacher, please inform the school office and we will
set up a time.
Blue and White Night -
Mark your calendars for the evening of Saturday, May 9th. WLS will
be holding a Blue and White Auction to benefit the school. More information
will be coming out soon, but we wanted everyone to put that on their calendars
already as an important night.
Spring Flower Sales -
Our annual Spring Plant Sale will soon begin and we need volunteers. Students
will be selling scrips to purchase flowers and plants at discount prices from
The Greenhouse Effect in Antwerp, OH. Please call the school office or Deb
Lindberg if you can help.
Recycling
- Saturday, March 21, is the monthly recycling from 9-12. Scheduled
workers are: Lucas Scharr, Tyler Knapp, Kendra Sinclair, Allison Messman,
Spencer Osborn, and the following plus a parent; Gavin Keller, Caroline Hoeppner,
Cheyenne Hoeppner, Madison Swanson, Buddy Douglas, Devin
Hoeppner.
Zion Junior and Primary
Choir sing at the Lenten service Wednesday evening at 7 pm. Please meet in the
Fellowship Hall at 6:45. Christ Junior and Primary Choir also sing at
the Lenten service at 7 pm.
Grades 2nd – 4th
will be attending Sugarbush, where they will learn the history of syrup making
and gathering of sap.
Kindergarten will be
going to McMillen to learn about their general health. They will learn what
foods to eat, how to exercise, and how much sleep they need.
Chapel News - Next
Wednesday’s chapel service, March 18, will be held at Christ at 8:15 a.m. Pastor
Edwards will lead. Chapel offerings for the months of February and March will
be designated to Hope Center in Fort Wayne. Don’t forget to fill the baby
bottles up with spare change and bring them into the school office.
Target - Thank you to
all who participate in the Target “Take charge of Education” program. We just
received a check in the amount of $359.81 to put towards our PTL committee.
Here’s how it works: When you sign up for a Target card, simply tell them to
designate Woodburn Lutheran as your eligible school and any time you make a
purchase on that card 1% of the purchases will come back to WLS.
Zion Youth Group - Attention 7th
& 8th Graders! Our next gathering will be Sunday, March 15, at 4:00
pm at Eric & Marsha Armbruster’s house.
