Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
PAW PRINTS
JANUARY 23, 2009

    Our Mission is Fishin’

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week included: Andrew Worman (1st), Alex Swanson (3rd), Dawson Knapp (2nd), and Abigail Gentz (K).

2009 – 2010 WLS School Year – Recent budget concerns and income reductions for next school year may mean some modifications to what WLS can offer. Our WLS School Board is working as quickly as possible to determine what changes will need to be made for next school year.

We anticipate another WLS Association meeting sometime in February to finalize just what we are able to do. Please continue to pray for our WLS Board members and for our WLS staff members.

Please also continue to spread the word that although there may be some changes to what WLS offers next year, we do plan to be open and to teach as many students as we possibly can.

Open House – Anticipating that we will still be having classes next year, we will hold an Open House to show new families our WLS building and classrooms on Sunday, February 8th, from noon until 3:00. This Open House will be part of a larger Open House Day for all of the Lutheran schools in the Ft. Wayne area. You may begin to see and hear more about this event on television, in newspapers, and on the radio. If any or your friends who would like to visit our school, please let them know about this Open House afternoon.

JV Basketball – This has been a busy week for our boys’ JV basketball team. With a few makeup games and a regular game, they finished their season with three games in a row. Once again we congratulate them for their effort and thank the coaches for working with our students.

Dave & Beth Hoeppner -  On Tuesday Dave and Beth Hoeppner flew out of Chicago on their way to India.  Please  pray for them to have a smooth transition to their new job.   We will be posting updates periodically from them.

SCRIP NEWS –We have a couple gift cards left over from Christmas time that are on-hand and we would like to get rid of them.  Lowes we have $25 and Red Lobster/ Olive Garden  2 at $25.  The Red Lobster/Olive Garden card is wonderful because it can be used at either place.  We are still selling scrip at Zion and Christ Churches on Sundays, and in the kitchen everyday that school is open from 7:45 to 9:00.
