Our Mission is Fishin’
Prayer Cards - Each
morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also
regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week
included: Kirk Nahrwold (1st), Gavin Keller (5th), Madison
Swanson (6th), and Elliot Gunderman (6th).
WLS Open House –
Woodburn Lutheran School will hold an Open House this Sunday, February 8th,
from noon until 3:00. Please share this information with any of your friends who
may be interested in Woodburn Lutheran School for next year.
Snow Days – We have now
had a total of five Snow Days. These five days will need to be made up. However,
if we have any future weather related days off, we will be able to ask for
waivers from the Indiana Department of Education. The final day of school at
this time will be Thursday, June 4th. Even if we miss another five
days, that will only move our final day to Friday, June 5th, which is
also our graduation day. The groundhog may have seen his shadow, but we are all
hoping for an early spring.
Fish Fry Committee Meeting
- Tuesday, February 10th at 7:00 will be the first Fish Fry
committee meeting. Committee members: McConnell, Meyer, Adams, Bratten,
Douglas, Gentz, Gerbers, Gerig (Tim & Susan), Gunderman, Hathaway, Hoeppner
(Mark & Chris), Klopfenstein, Osborn (Jennifer), Phillips, Scharr, Swanson.
Family Bowling Day -
The PTL is pleased to invite our WLS families to the PTL Family Bowling Day to
be held at Woodburn Lanes on March 7th. Sign up sheets were sent
home with each student and we ask that they be completed and returned to school
by next Friday, February 13th. There is no charge for our WLS
families; shoe rental and bowling fees are included. Lots of fun to be had with
pizza and breadsticks served too -- we look forward to seeing you there!
Miss Hockemeyer and Mrs.
Schroeder would like to thank the girls’ basketball team for the gifts and
flowers they received from the girls. It was a very thoughtful gesture, and we
really appreciate your kindness. It was a fun season! We enjoyed coaching you,
and you made great improvements as the season progressed. In the beginning, no
one was too sure of what ‘offense’ or ‘defense’ meant. However, at the end of
our season, you all gave every bit of effort and determination, and tremendous
improvements showed! Keep playing!
Attention WLS, Christ and
Zion members - To help the school save money on paper, I’m asking anyone
who would be interested in receiving the Paw Prints via email instead of the
paper copy, please email Rachel at
woodburnlutheran@comcast.net and let me know. Thank you
Acolytes - Sunday,
February 8, acolyte for Zion Lutheran Church – Spencer Sharrar.
Box Tops for Education -
We will be sending in this year’s Box Tops at the end of the month. If you
have any at home, please send them in to the school office by Monday, February
23.
Concession Workers needed -
Wrestling meets will be starting up at the end of February, and we need your
help. A Concession Worker Form is being sent home with each non-wrestling
student in grades 5-8 today. Even though everyone has been scheduled for the
two games during the volleyball and basketball season, we’re asking for
volunteers to help with the wrestling meets. The dates are February 24 and
March 9. Please fill out the paperwork and send back into the school. Thank
you.
