Our Mission is Fishin’ 

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week included Nick Sharrar (8^th), Jacob Roemer (Pre-K), Mara Kitzmiller (4^th), and Lucas Scharr (5^th).

National Lutheran Schools Week – We will celebrate NLSW the first week in March, the 1^st – 8^th. We have a number of special activities and days scheduled for this week. Family and friends are invited to join us on any of these special days.

NLSW Special Activities:

Monday, March 2^nd – PTL Breakfast 7:00 – 8:00. We will also begin the day with prayers around the flagpole starting at about 8:15. (Hat Day)

Tuesday, March 3^rd – We will go caroling to shut-ins in the afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30. (Blue and White Day)

Wednesday, March 4^th – Mr. Staub will hold chapel at Christ beginning about 8:15. We will have a Bible Trivia contest with the chapel families following the chapel service back in the WLS gym. (Dress-up Day)

Thursday, March 5^th – Special join-the students-for-lunch day. (Christian T-Shirt Day)

Friday, March 6^th – This will be a bowling day. Grades 5 – 8 will bowl in the morning and K- 4 will bowl in the afternoon. (Wacky Dress Day)

Sunday, March 8^th – Choirs will be singing in the church services. Mr. Hoyer will give the message at Zion Lutheran Church.

ISTEP testing is also the week of NLSW so get plenty of rest and eat breakfast!

Book Fair at WLS -  Wednesday, March 11-13, we will be having our annual Book Fair.  This is how our school gets new books for the library.  If you are able to help by working during the school day, Wednesday- Friday, or able to work the Book Fair during the Fish Fry on Friday, March 13^th, please let Mrs. Singer or the school office know.  We appreciate your help and support. 

Wrestling Meets – I hope you didn’t miss our first home wrestling meet this past Tuesday with a total of 5 area Lutheran schools. It was an exciting time. We will have our second and last home meet on Monday, March 9^th, with a school of 6 area Lutheran schools competing. The matches will begin in our gym at 4:15. Come and cheer our team on if you have the opportunity.

WLS Association Meeting – We will be having the WLS Association meeting Sunday, March 8^th, at 4:00 in the WLS gym.  Please keep in mind March 8^th is Daylight Savings Time, so adjust your clocks. The School Board would like to apologize for the numerous changes, but given the importance of these meetings, we need to have all possible information given and also make certain everyone possible can attend. 

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, March 4, will be held at Christ at 8:15 a.m. Mr. Staub will lead.  Chapel offerings for the months of February and March will be designated to Hope Center in Fort Wayne.  The center provides free services to clients such as pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, education and material assistance.  Their services help save lives, heal the hurt and strengthen families.  Woodburn Lutheran is participating in their Baby Bottle Campaign collecting money.  We are also collecting baby products such as diapers, wipes, formula, and gently used baby clothing. There are extra baby bottles in the office for anyone who has spare change to donate.  Thank you for your help and support for this wonderful program.

All WLS Students Grades Kindergarten – 8^th will be singing Sunday, March 8^th, at both Christ and Zion Churches to Celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week.
