    Our Mission is Fishin’

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for each of our students. The students we prayed for this week included Emily Miller (5th), Caleb Lawson (Pre-K), Brice Rekeweg (5th), and Spencer Sharrar (5th).

National Lutheran Schools Week – We will celebrate NLSW the first week in March, the 1st – 8th.  We have a number of special activities and days scheduled for this week. Parents and grandparents may want to note a few of the special days so that they can join us on the days they want to.

NLSW Special Activities:

Monday, March 2nd – PTL Breakfast 7:00 – 8:00. We will also begin the day with prayers around the flagpole starting at about 8:15. Preschool-6th learn fire safety with the Learn Not To Burn program.  We will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.  (Hat Day)

Tuesday, March 3rd – We will go caroling to shut-ins, since we missed out at Christmas. (Blue and White Day)

Wednesday, March 4th – Mr. Staub will hold chapel at Christ beginning about 8:15. We will have a Bible Trivia contest with the chapel families. (Dress-up Day)

Thursday, March 5th – Join the students for a special lunch day. A sign-up sheet was sent home this week so that we’ll know just how many adults will be joining us for lunch.  Also, Preschool-2nd the Zoo will come in and have a special assembly. (Christian T-shirt Day)

Friday, March 6th – This will be a bowling day. Grades 5 – 8 will bowl in the morning and K- 4 will bowl in the afternoon. (Wacky Dress Day)

Sunday, March 8th – Choirs will be singing in the church services.

WLS Association Meeting Postponed – We are still working through a few budget concerns with Christ and Zion Lutheran Churches and did not feel that we would be ready to bring anything up for a vote this coming Sunday afternoon, February 22nd. We have postponed the WLS Association meeting, therefore, until Sunday, March 15th, at 4:00 in the WLS gym.

Book Fair at WLS -  Wednesday, March 11-13, we will be having our annual Book Fair.  This is how our school gets new books for the library.  If you are able to help by working during the school day, Wednesday- Friday, or able to work the Book Fair during the Fish Fry on Friday, March 13th, please let Mrs. Singer or the school office know.  We appreciate your help and support.

Family Bowling Day -    The PTL is pleased to invite our WLS families to the PTL Family Bowling Day to be held at Woodburn Lanes on March 7th.  Sign up sheets were sent home already with each student and were due Friday, February 13th.  If you are still interested in signing up, please complete the form and send it the to school office no later then Monday, February 23rd.  There is no charge for our WLS families; shoe rental and bowling fees are included.  Lots of fun to be had with pizza and breadsticks served too -- we look forward to seeing you there!

Attention WLS, Christ and Zion members -   To help the school save money on paper, I’m asking anyone who would be interested in receiving the Paw Prints via email instead of the paper copy, please email Rachel at woodburnlutheran@comcast.net and let me know.  Thank you

Concession Workers needed -  Our first home wrestling meet will be next Tuesday, February 24 and we still need one more family to help with concessions.  There are only two home meets, and the other meet is Monday, March 9th, where we will need two more families to sign up.  Even though everyone has been scheduled for the two games during the volleyball and basketball season, we’re asking for volunteers to help with the wrestling meets also.  Please call the school office if you are able to help.  The times are from 3:45 until approximately 6:00 or when the meet is over.  Please call if you are

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, February 25, will be held at WLS at 8:10 a.m. Mr. Hoyer will lead.  Chapel offerings for the months of February and March will be designated to Hope Center in Fort Wayne.  The center provides free services to clients such as pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, education and material assistance.  Their services help save lives, heal the hurt and strengthen families.  Woodburn Lutheran is participating in their Baby Bottle Campaign collecting money.  We are also collecting baby products such as diapers, wipes, formula, and gently used baby clothing. There are extra baby bottles in the office for anyone who has spare change to donate.  Thank you for your help and support for this wonderful program.
