Our Mission is Fishin’ 

Prayer Cards - Each morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed for this week included Sydni Klopfenstein (1^st), Dylan Gerig (6^th), Emma Rekeweg (2^nd), and Jack Gillenwater (Pre-K).

Basketball Results – Our JV teams played St. John – Emmanuel on Tuesday.  Both boys and girls lost again and are still looking for their first wins. Both teams, however, continue to improve and are playing better together all of the time.  Next Monday, we will host Wyneken in our gym. Only the JV boys will play, beginning at 5:30 at WLS.

School Delay and Snow Day Cancellations – This is just a reminder that unless otherwise notified, we will follow East Allen for all delays and cancellations.   Also as a reminder, if there is a 2-hour delay on a Wednesday, instead of the 2:15 dismissal, our students will be dismissed at the regular time of 2:45.  The same also applies on the 2 1/2 hour early dismissal days. 

Caroling – Traditionally our students go caroling on the day before we begin our Christmas break (Friday, December 19). If there are any parents or grandparents who you would like to recommend we carol to, please call the office with those names before next Friday, December 12. Also if there are any parents who would like to join us caroling, let the office know those names.

WLS Christmas Program – Mark your calendars for the WLS Christmas program, “Live from Caesar’s Palace”. It will be presented in our school gym on Thursday, December 18^th. There will be a 9:00 AM dress rehearsal practice open to everyone and an evening 7:00 performance. Everyone is invited to attend and bring all your relatives and friends.

Woodburn Christian Children’s Home -  Everyone is invited to the WCCH Christmas open house, this Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, from 2-5.  If you would like to receive information concerning the Children’s Christmas Wish Lists, please call Kathy Grant at the WCCH office,     632-5551. 

 Santa Claus – Movies – Popcorn -  Santa Claus is coming to Woodburn!  Saturday, December 13 is an open house from 1-4 and everyone in the community is invited.  Have your picture taken with Santa and watch animated Christmas movies while enjoying popcorn. Sponsored by Christ Lutheran Church.  A flyer will be going out on Monday about this event. 

Attention Zion Parent -  Please note that on December 17^th the Zion Primary and Junior choirs will sing at the Advent service.  Please have them in the fellowship hall by 6:45.  Just a note, there are light suppers served before the advent services. 

Thank you -  Peg Calvin would like to thank the 1^st grade students for sending the Birthday letters and pictures; they brightened up her day.  Also, a big thank you to the 5^th and 6^th grade students for praying for her.

1^st Grade Grandparent Reading will begin Thursday, January 29.  If you are interested in helping with this wonderful program, please call Rachel in the school office at 632-5493 so we can make sure all the kids have someone to read with.  Some of our 1^st graders do not have grandparents in the area, so we need help!  Each grandparent reader is required to complete a volunteer form.  Please come into the school office to pick up a form.  If you filled out a form last year, you will not need to fill out another one. 

Do you shop at Office Depot? -  If you do, please use our WLS School ID number when you check out - # 1203185457 – we receive 5% of your total purchase price to use when we buy school supplies.  Also, purchase Office Depot SCRIP before you shop and you will be helping WLS twice!

Christ Junior Choir -  sings this Sunday with Chimes at 10 am.  Please meet in Church Proper at 9:45.

Chapel News -  Next Wednesday’s chapel service, December 10, will be held at WLS at 8:10 a.m. Pastor Adams will lead.  Chapel offerings for the months of December and January will be designated to Lutheran Blind Mission.
