Fully Rely On God
F.R.O.G.

Waiting…Advent…Waiting. Perhaps, some of you have waited for someone in the
past. We wait for our college children to return home for family get-togethers;
we wait for our sons and daughters to return from military service; we wait for
babies to be born. We prepare our homes with extra cleaning, special food and
beverages. We plan
dinners and invite guests. We are finally ready and then we wait….Isn’t
it wonderful when the waiting is over and everyone has arrived? Isn’t it
wonderful for the whole family to be gathered together for a Thanksgiving meal
or a birthday celebration?
Think of how we
are waiting for Jesus…during Advent, we prepare our hearts and homes. We put up
Christmas trees, we light Advent wreathes, we sing special songs and we attend
special church services. We honor all sorts of family and religious
traditions. We get ready and then we wait. We wait. We wait for the Baby
Jesus. We celebrate His birth at Christmas. We wait for Jesus to come again
and bring us all home together for the ultimate banquet feast in Paradise.
Won’t it be wonderful to be gathered there together with all of our loved ones,
with our Savior, Jesus Christ, in the flesh? We wait. He said He would come
back. So we wait. Since we don’t know for sure when He will arrive,
be ready! Blessings! ~~Ruth

Testimonial from
Tom Keller – Class of 1970- Parent of 5 WLS Graduates –
I was blessed to attend WLS from grades 1-8. I didn’t always realize how
fortunate I was at the time, though. I sometimes wondered how it would be to
attend public school at Woodburn Elementary, formerly Woodburn High School, and
now home of the Woodburn fire Dept. and community center. Hind sight now tells
me that, through my parents and WLS, God was working in my life. I’m thankful
for this and that our children had the same opportunity.
When I was a
schoolboy at WLS there were actually three different school buildings, kind of
like a college campus I guess. Ha ha. I went to 1st and 2nd
grades at the old White School, which in later years became the USW union hall
but is now a parking lot. 3rd and 4th grades were bussed
to Zion Lutheran Church classrooms. Grades 5-8 were at the “Quancet” – the
present site of WLS. There we had an outdoor basketball court.
Now we have been
blessed with a wonderful school building with classrooms for all grades, a
library, computer room, and an indoor gymnasium. Awesome! All praise and
thanks to God for this wonderful ministry of WLS and may it continue for many
years.
WLS

All children
Preschool thru Grade 6 will present a Christmas Program on Monday, December 21st,

special program. Further details will be shared as available.
WANTED: 2010 Golf
Outing Chairperson
The WLS Golf Outing
Committee is in need of a new chairperson. This position requires a
well-organized person with good communication skills. If you are interested in
this position or would like to talk about what is required, please contact Sandy
Kammeyer (657-5012). The WLS Golf Outing has become a ‘well-oiled machine’ by
now but it does need someone that will ‘lead the charge” to success.
Additionally, if you would like to help (in any capacity) with the Outing,
please let Sandy, the school office or a School Board member know ASAP.
