Lord Take My Hand
and Lead Me
Prayer Cards – Each
morning our teachers meet for devotions as we prepare for our day. We also
regularly pray for our students and each school family. The students we prayed
for this week included): Emma Rekeweg (1st), Brynn Phillips (1st),
Isaac Meyer (1st), and Dylan Gerig (5th).
Valedictorian and Salutatorian
– Congratulations to Lily Keller who will be this year’s 8th grade WLS
Valedictorian. Logan Buuck earned the honor of being this year’s Salutatorian.
Both students also earned the right to give speeches during the graduation
service on Thursday, June 5th.
In order to be considered valedictorian or
salutatorian, students have achieved an average Grade Point Average of 9.0 in
grades 5th – 8th. Congratulations, Lily and Logan! Your academic achievements
certainly give our younger students lots of inspiration!
Creation
Museum Trip – There is still room for
adults to join our trip to the Creation Museum on Thursday, May 1st. At this
time we have about 17 adults planning on joining our 5th, 7th, and 8th grade
students on this trip. Call Mr. Hoyer for more information or to sign up to go.
Mark’s Ark
– Next Friday, April 18th starting at 1:15, WLS will have an interesting
presentation for our students and we would like to invite parents to come in as
well. Mark’s Ark is a presentation by Mark Kohlhorst where he will bring in
various animals for the students to see and maybe even touch. Mark even plans on
bringing his pet 4 foot alligator “McClusky” into the gym for the students to
see. Come and join the fun next Friday for “Mark’s Ark”.
Track Meets
– We have begun our track season and would like to invite anyone who would like
to watch to come to our meets. They are always held at Concordia Seminary
beginning about 4:00 p.m.. We have two meets scheduled next Monday and Tuesday
if you would like to come out and cheer our small energetic team on.
Chapel Offerings
– Our chapel offerings for April will be going to help out the new “Little
Blessings” Day Care Center at Zion Lutheran Church. Offerings in May will go to
help grow our WLS Scholarship Fund. This fund is available for those who need
financial help each year to attend WLS.
2-Hour Late Arrival –
We have a 2-Hour Late Arrival next
Thursday, April 17. School will begin at 10:00 a.m. No Grade 1 Reading that
day.
Computer Server Fund
– From time to time we find that we have extra needs here at WLS that are not
covered in the budget or with some of the grants we receive from the Lutheran
Foundation. We find that the schools computer server needs to be replaced this
coming summer. We have struggled through the past two years with minor problems,
but now it really needs to be replaced. I have started a fund to help cover
these expences . Anyone wishing to help us replace our server this summer can
make donations to this Computer Server Fund between now and the end of the
school year.
Registration – We are
now taking registrations for all grades, pre-school through 8th
grade. If you know of someone looking for a school home next year, please have
them call our school office to set up an appointment with Mr. Hoyer.
Spring Flower Sale – It
seems like a good thing to talk now that spring has arrived. Our annual Flower
Sale will take place again this year. Information and Order Forms have been
sent home with each student. Additional order forms are on the table in the
office. Check with family members, friends, and neighbors to see if they want to
order. Please indicate on your order form how your certificates are to be
delivered. (With your child, sent to the person on the form, put in a church
mailbox, etc.).
Chapel News Next
Wednesday’s Chapel Service (April 16) will be held at Christ Lutheran Church,
8:15 a.m., with Pastor Adams leading. Our April Chapel offerings are
designated for the Zion “Little Blessings” Day Care. Chapel envelopes will be

Chapel services. Just read the WLS weekly newsletter and monthly calendars for

means . . . outdoor activities!!! Don’t cook for your family after a long hard
