Christian Character

Following are ten life skills, which are an integral part of student development and success in life.  

The teachers at WLS are committed to teaching and fostering these skills, with the help of God, in each and every student.


 

Personal Attributes

Organization

         Folders and binders filed neatly

         Keeps desk, surrounding area and areas of special activity clean, tidy and contained

         Manages a neat and current daily planner

         Efficiently packs and unpacks backpack

Preparation

         Brings and can locate all necessary supplies and materials, including lunches, books, pencils, paper, art supplies, homework, etc.

         Homework satisfactorily completed before entering classroom, including test preparation and projects

         Displays a confident demeanor and is ready to learn

Time Management

         On task and engaged in learning

         Completes class work carefully and promptly

         Uses available time wisely

         Transitions well

         Takes care of personal needs efficiently and at an appropriate time, including using restroom at recess/lunch, speaking with

         teachers and throwing away garbage.

Demeanor

         Well groomed, hair combed and clean (body and clothes)

         Courteous and polite

         Practices self-control

         Demonstrates a positive and helpful attitude both verbally and physically

 

Relational Skills

Communication

         Respectful of tone of voice

         Respectful body language including eye contact

         Takes turns speaking and listening to others

         Appropriately engages in conversation

Conflict Prevention & Resolution

         Listens to each other

         Calm, patient and slow to anger

         Uses thoughtful responses

         A peacemaker

Teamwork

         Respectfully listens and affirms others’ ideas

         Assumes a responsible role in group

         Completes assigned tasks without teacher assistance
